Hair Health: What’s Helped My Hair Grow

Happy Tuesday y’all! Today I wanted to get real with everyone for a second because my hair has grown like a weed recently and I get SO many compliments on it, but in real life (for those who don’t see me everyday) don’t realize how hard it is to maintain long hair! My hair is at a point where it’s so long it reminds me of high school where I couldn’t brush through it all. I’d say a solid 75% of the time it’s an absolute tangled mess and don’t even ask how it looks when I sleep on it over the weekend. When it comes to hair health, I’ve found a few things that have really helped me over the last few months essentially tame the mane and I’m linking them in this post below!

1. Sleeping in silk hair ties. I always love sleeping with my hair pulled back so I don’t have to deal with it at all, but silk hair ties are great because they don’t crease and they don’t pull or damage your hair while you sleep.

2. A nourishing hair mask that moisturizes. I’m all about masks in general, but hair masks are slowly becoming a recent obsession. Whether it’s an overnight, one you use while you’re in the shower or a daily one – I’m linking a few favorites and ones I’m dying to try below.

Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask, Kerastase Nutritive Mask, Kopari Coconut Melt, Living Proof Restore Treatment, DryBar Mudslide Mask.

3. A brush that really detangles well, as generic as that it. I’ve been using Wet Brush for years and I’ve found that replacing it with another brush about every year and a half has helped. I keep a small one in my purse, one at home and one at work. Lifesaver!

One of the biggest reasons I think my hair has grown so much is that I don’t wash it as frequently as I used to (depending on my workout schedule I try to only keep it to 3 days a week and rotate Batiste or Dove dry shampoo with baby powder). I also rarely apply heat to my hair anymore unless it’s the weekend and I’m going out! My biggest piece of advice would be to find a styling product that helps your natural hair look presentable and put together. A few of my favorites are:

1. Aquage Ultra Straightening Gel
2. Kenra Platinum Luxe One Leave-In
3. Ouai Air Dry Foam
What do y’all think? Have a great day and thanks for reading!
