Happy Monday y’all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. With stay at home orders being extended (and not being in my actual home), I’ve had a real itch to get back and update a few areas around my apartment to make it more practical. Don’t get me wrong, I love my apartment set up, but if stay at home orders extend any further and I do make my way back to New York, I may need something that is more beneficial than a bar or wardrobe area. In case you remember my multiple set ups for my nook area, it has gone through plenty renditions of home office spaces to ultimately a bar/try on set up. I think the space is originally designed for a home office or dining space, and I really have the urge to turn it into the dining space it should be (pending if my floor mirror can fit elsewhere.
I’ve gone back and forth on this space and while I don’t plan to make any large purchases at this time, I wanted to share my inspiration/mood board in today’s post should you be looking to refresh your own home. Friendly reminder that my apartment is the definition of a bachelorette pad with multiple shades of pink everywhere. While I want it to remain fun and girly, I do want pieces that would be worth the investment and last me years/whenever I eventually move out of this apartment.
It may seem basic, but all I’m really looking to add is a credenza and dining table with a set of two chairs. I currently have the space open with just my floor mirror, and I would ideally relocate the floor mirror to another spot in the living room whether it be the back wall or where my egg chair currently is at an angle. I’ve learned that I’m pretty decent at outlining a space, but get so lost when it comes to filling it in! This would help fill in a goot portion of the space, and allow a spot for me to work, eat and do anything I can think of to do at a kitchen table. I currently have a pub table, and while it has served it’s purpose/gotten my moneys worth out of it it’s just not practical for the times were in should this be extended through summer.
The Credenza:
In terms of credenza, I definitely want one with as much storage as possible. In a dream world I would sell my pub table (hopefully for around $100 or so) and use this credenza to store additional household tools, kitchen items, or even beauty products that I have excess of. I found a blush pink/goldish bronze credenza on Wayfair that I’m absolutely obsessed with that has some great storage within (linked above first). In case it gets to be too much with colors and patterns, I’ve also found a few neutral/white ones I like with plenty of storage.
Accent Wall:
One thing I also really want in my space is an accent wall. I realized my old apartment had so much more wall space taken up (and people LOVED that whenever I would share). I’ve never really figured out what I want art wise because I feel like I’ve outgrown a lot of the traditional artwork I had for my gallery wall when I first moved to the city four years ago. I’ve narrowed down two dream wallpaper scenarios from the website I ordered from back in 2016 (so I know it’s easy to apply/remove). My personal preference is the chevron option with pinks, gold and navy because it has potential to tie together with my rug in my living room perfectly! It could be too much with the blush credenza, however. Let me know thoughts!
The Dream Mirror:
A big accent piece I’ve been dying for has been the coveted Anthropologie antique mirror. I love the idea of having this as a floor mirror one day, but I figure the medium sized version could last me years. This could also serve as a way to open up the room since I’ll be moving my floor mirror. You can never have too many mirrors in NYC apartments! This is probably the biggest investment so won’t happen for awhile, but a girl can dream!
A Proper Dining Room Table:
For a dining room table, I don’t need much but something small could be nice. I’ve realized when we moved to NYC we purchased what was cheapest and could be used for the time being, now that I’m getting older I would love to have a few nicer pieces I can use for years. Without having to pull out my savings, I’ve found Target has had some great options and I know their furniture is super reliable! Ultimately it would be kept super girly, but I’m very into the patterns going on and how this could potentially tie together with my overall living room. Could potentially be the find to get me situated (after two years in this apartment lol).
What do y’all think? Would love to know your thoughts! Have a great day and thanks for reading! You can shop what I’m eyeing in the widget below.
