Happy Friday y’all! Today marks a milestone for me because Kayleigh’s Kloset is turning two!! When I began blogging two years ago, I was trying to just get something fashion related on my resume and started with DIY posts and cropping myself out of pictures with friends. I was always nervous about sharing it because I didn’t think my friends would think it was ‘cool’ and after time I gradually moved onto iPhone pictures and digital camera pictures with a timer. Around Thanksgiving time-nearly six months in-I shared one of my first posts on my Instagram account and people actually thought it was cool! I started sharing more and using a tripod to take my pictures. Around spring time I fully invested in a DSLR camera and creating blog-specific social media accounts and I just can’t believe how much it’s grown in the last two years. It’s so hard to keep up with school, work, interning, social life and blogging but I’ve somehow made it work! I love hearing the jokes my friends make when it comes to social media and blogging, and you wouldn’t believe the amount of snap chats I’ve seen in the last few days where it’s a video of my closet saying “Kayleigh’s Kloset, literally!” I can’t thank you guys enough for following along, supporting me throughout my entire journey and making Kayleigh’s Kloset what it is today! I can’t stress enough how every comment, no matter how big or small, goes a long way. As a blogger we put ourselves out there to be scrutinized by people behind phone/computer screens and I can say that I’ve been fortunate enough to not experience that cattiness just yet! Everyone is so supportive and kind, and I’m so grateful.

For my two year Bloggiversary I decided to change it up and stray away from hot pink-a very difficult decision for me let me tell you. I found this purple sequin number online about a month back and knew it was perfect! I love the kimono fit and how the sleeves are super lose but the skirt is tight. The factor that did me in was the open back. I love an open back, but this one is just so different from anything I own! While it’s not a dress I can wear on a normal Thursday night in Norman, it would be great for a formal date party or when I head back to the city. Who knows this little number may make a reappearance at Fashion Week next month! I wanted to be subtle with the bloggiversary so instead of getting anything with a two on it, I decided to pop some champagne! Let me tell you, popping champagne in the middle of a street in Norman, Oklahoma really confuses people driving by. Last year I stalked so many senior pictures of girls popping champagne in their caps and gown, and while my friends and I hope to recreate that later on, I figured it would go well with celebrating my blog’s growth and the last weekend before I start senior year. Y’all I don’t know where the time goes… I feel like it was just yesterday that I was running up to Alpha Chi Omega’s lawn on bid day and feeling terrified trying to make new friends because I’m such an awkward person when it comes to meeting new people! Now I’m a GG Big and live in a house off campus and it’s just crazy. I’m sharing some of my answers to the most frequently asked questions below if you’re interested in blogging and how to balance everything! PS I am loving my long bob! I’m so happy to have finally gotten the courage to say goodbye to my long locks!

Do you want to blog full time? One of the things I’m very passionate about is making my way on my own and having a career, and sometimes blogging gets in the way of that. I have to make sacrifices (lack of posts, quality, etc) in order to keep true to what I want. While blogging full time would be great, it’s more important for me to have a career/job and keep my blog as a hobby for me. Once it’s starts becoming a business it just seems super commercial to me, and I want to stay as genuine to my readers as possible.

How do you grow your social media? Really it’s producing beautiful content constantly. I’ve learned that posting once a day isn’t enough and I’m gradually working on getting to 3-4 times a day. Some people will get annoyed and unfollow you, but you’ll gain followers who are truly fans of your style and that’s what matters.

What’s your advice for beginning bloggers? Put yourself out there and remain consistent. Consistency is the most important thing, but don’t be afraid to reach out to people. Ask bloggers that you follow what apps they use if you like their pictures, reach out to brands you want to work with, don’t be shy! Get involved with the community, it has so much to offer!

So that’s all I have for today y’all. Cheers to two years of Kayleigh’s Kloset and here’s to many more! I’m so excited to see where my hobby takes me and what this next year has left to bring. Have you seen my throwbacks of my favorite posts on Instagram this week? If not be sure to follow along! Have a great day and thanks for reading, today and everyday!
